Not a very receptive audience on this occasion. Wagner discovered this a few times when his usual hollering went down like a lead balloon. I would say that both Wagner and Dupree have styles and charisma that really benefit from having a crowd to play off. FiFi was conspicuous by her absence today. He did have LONER written on his backside, presumably trunks made before he enlisted in the Sugiura Army and joined his crew of shoot fighters, dog lovers and pornography enthusiasts. ![]() He put in a really strong shift here and worked really well in this team with Wagner. For a wrestler with some nostalgia value he does work harder than many might give him credit for (which I’m guilty of myself). Wagner’s been an entertaining addition to NOAH since he’s become a regular fixture in the promotion and Dupree wasn’t just here to make up the numbers. By the end, though, I was really impressed. For the first third of this match they remained that novelty. That’s good, variety is nice, but there’s usually a ceiling on how good that’s going to be. It’s a quirky combo they really stand out compared to the rest of the field. I’ll be honest: when I saw that lineup I wrote the Dupree/Wagner team off as a bit of a novelty. ![]() When presented with the possibility that this could be a dull Tag League, NOSAWA’s response? “Out of the question”. Dupree and Wagner formed the international offering from the Sugiura Army for the tournament, with Dupree making his NOAH debut and Japanese return for this run of shows after previous stints in AJPW, Wrestle-1 and, most importantly, HUSTLE as the fabulous Rene Bonaparte. This kicked off the second day (episode 2!) of NOAH’s 2020 Global Tag League with the second match from block A.
